Why are travel insurance claims rejected?

Travel claims are usually refused because a reason for cancellation is not listed in the policy, a medical condition is treated as pre-existing, the insurer was not told in time, or receipts and reports from abroad are missing. Most of these depend on documents from the trip, which is why organising them properly matters.

  • Read the insurer's reason for refusal
  • Organise bookings, receipts and medical reports
  • Arrange translations where needed
  • Show how the event falls within the cover

How it works

How we handle your claim

  1. 01

    Free eligibility review

Send your policy and the insurer's reply. We tell you if you have a case and what is missing.

  2. 02

    We prepare the file

We collect the evidence, organise the documents and draft a clear, well-argued complaint.

  3. 03

    We file and follow up

We raise it with the insurer first, then with the Sanadak unit if it is not resolved.

  4. 04

    Decision, or appeal

You get updates until the decision is issued, and we prepare your appeal if you need one.

The complaints route

Two stages, and we prepare both

Stage 1

Complaint to your insurer

The insurer must first get the chance to resolve your complaint, usually within 30 calendar days. A complete, well-documented complaint at this stage often settles the case.

Stage 2

The Sanadak unit

If the insurer does not resolve it, or you disagree with its answer, the complaint goes to the Sanadak unit, the official complaints body set up by the Central Bank of the UAE. Filing is free for consumers. Insurance disputes normally go here before court.

Travel insurance claims: frequently asked questions

My travel insurance refused my medical bills abroad. What can I do?

Ask for the reason in writing and complain to the insurer with the medical reports and invoices. If it is not resolved, the complaint can go to the Sanadak unit.

Is cancellation for a family emergency covered?

Often yes, if the reason is listed in the policy. We check your wording and the evidence needed.

My luggage was lost. Who pays, the airline or the insurer?

Usually the airline first, then the travel insurer for the remaining covered amount. We help with both.

My documents are in another language. Is that a problem?

They may need translation. We arrange it as part of preparing the file.

Is there a deadline?

Check your policy's notice period. Complaints can generally be filed within three years of the event, or two years from when you became aware of it.
