Why are health insurance claims rejected in the UAE?

Health claims are most often refused because the insurer says the treatment was not medically necessary, was linked to a pre-existing condition, was outside the network or the plan's cover, or lacked a required pre-approval or document. Each of these can be answered with the right medical reports and policy references. Depending on the emirate and the plan, some health complaints are also handled by the local health authority, and we tell you which route applies.

Common situations

These are the health cases clients bring to us most often.

Treatment approval denied

The insurer refused pre-approval for a procedure, test or medication.

Reimbursement rejected

You paid the hospital or pharmacy, and the claim was refused.

Partial payment

Only part of the bill was covered, with deductions you dispute.

Delays and no reply

The claim is stuck while bills or treatment wait.

What we do

What we do for your health claim

We turn medical paperwork into a clear case the insurer has to answer.

  • Review the plan, the table of benefits and exclusions
  • Read the denial or rejection reason
  • Organise medical reports, invoices and prescriptions
  • Ask your doctor for the supporting letter that matters
  • Draft the complaint to the insurer
  • Track the 30-day response period
  • File with the right complaints body if it is not resolved
  • Follow up until a decision, and prepare an appeal if needed

We do not give medical advice. We present the medical evidence your doctors provide in the way the insurer needs to see it.

Send your policy and the insurer's reply. We tell you if you have a case and what is missing.

  2. 02

    We prepare the file

We collect the evidence, organise the documents and draft a clear, well-argued complaint.

  3. 03

    We file and follow up

We raise it with the insurer first, then with the Sanadak unit if it is not resolved.

  4. 04

    Decision, or appeal

You get updates until the decision is issued, and we prepare your appeal if you need one.

The complaints route

Two stages, and we prepare both

Stage 1

Complaint to your insurer

The insurer must first get the chance to resolve your complaint, usually within 30 calendar days. A complete, well-documented complaint at this stage often settles the case.

Stage 2

The Sanadak unit

If the insurer does not resolve it, or you disagree with its answer, the complaint goes to the Sanadak unit, the official complaints body set up by the Central Bank of the UAE. Filing is free for consumers. Insurance disputes normally go here before court.

Health insurance claims: frequently asked questions

My health insurance denied a pre-approval. What can I do?

Ask for the reason in writing, get a supporting letter from your doctor, and complain to the insurer. If it maintains the denial, the complaint can be escalated. We prepare and follow it for you.

Can I claim back money I paid for treatment?

Yes, if the treatment is covered by your plan. If the reimbursement was rejected, we review the reason and prepare the complaint with your invoices and reports.

The insurer says it is a pre-existing condition. Is that final?

Not necessarily. It depends on what was declared, the policy terms and the medical history. We review the facts before advising.

Where do health insurance complaints go?

First to the insurer. Then, depending on the emirate and the plan, to the Sanadak unit or the local health authority. We tell you which route applies to your case.

How long does it take?

The insurer is usually expected to respond within 30 calendar days. After that, the time depends on the complaints body and the case.

How much does your service cost?

The first review is free. Our fee is confirmed in writing before we start.
